Mastercard Airport Lounge Budapest: Is It Worth 4,000 HUF?

The Mastercard Airport Lounge Budapest offers good value for 4,000 HUF with a Hungarian Gold card. But is the small lounge worth 12,000 HUF for foreign premium cardholders?

The Mastercard Airport Lounge at Budapest Airport isn’t particularly big or luxurious, but for 4,000 HUF with a Hungarian-issued Mastercard Gold, I think it’s a great deal.

I would much rather spend that amount on lounge access than buy food and drinks in the terminal. There are a few drawbacks, especially when it gets crowded, but for the price, I find it hard to complain.

📍 Location and Entry Prices

The Mastercard Airport Lounge is located on the upper level of SkyCourt at Budapest Airport’s Terminal 2, next to the SkyCourt Lounge, after security. It’s open daily from 05:00 to 21:00.

Entry depends on where your Mastercard was issued and which card tier you have. The 2026 October published prices are:

Mastercard typeEntry price
Hungarian-issued Gold4,000 HUF
Hungarian-issued Platinum, World Elite, Business PremiumFree
Foreign-issued Black / World Elite12,000 HUF or €30

You’ll need an eligible active Mastercard and a same-day boarding pass for a flight departing from Budapest. A physical card or Apple/Google Digital Wallet is accepted, and any entry fee must be paid by bank card.

The price difference between Hungarian and foreign-issued cards is something I really don’t understand. What I find particularly unreasonable is the 12,000 HUF (€30) entry fee for foreign-issued Mastercard World Elite and Black cardholders. Considering these are premium cards, it’s surprising that their holders have to pay three times the entry price offered to Hungarian Mastercard Gold customers.

🛋️ Seating and Atmosphere

The lounge has a modern design, with warm orange and yellow seating, small tables and some higher-backed chairs that offer a little more privacy. There is also a communal table with charging points, useful if you need to work or charge your devices before flying.

However, the lounge is quite small and can get crowded during peak hours, particularly during the morning rush of Wizz Air and Ryanair departures, when queues can even form outside the entrance. Still, I think the seating and overall setup are reasonable for the discounted entry price. It’s not somewhere I’d arrive hours early just to relax, but for a short stop before a flight, it offers good value.

🍴 Food and Drinks: Good Value for the Price

The food selection is fairly simple, but I think it’s perfectly adequate for what you’re paying with a Hungarian Mastercard Gold. During my visit, the buffet included hot options such as baked beans in tomato sauce and breaded bites, alongside a selection of cold dishes.

There were cheeses, cold cuts, hummus, eggplant spread, salads and various toppings. Bread and pastries were also available. It’s not an elaborate buffet, and I wouldn’t compare it with a premium airline lounge. But for 4,000 HUF, I think the selection is more than reasonable.

The drinks offering is another advantage. There were soft drinks, juices, coffee, tea, beer, wine, sparkling wine and a selection of spirits. Considering what you might spend on food and drinks at an airport restaurant, I think lounge access at this price makes much more sense.

⭐ Is the Mastercard Airport Lounge Budapest Worth It?

For 4,000 HUF with a Hungarian Mastercard Gold, absolutely. The lounge is small, and it can feel crowded during peak times, but I think it delivers exactly what it should at that price. There’s somewhere to sit, a reasonable food selection and plenty of drinks to choose from. I wouldn’t call it a luxury experience, but I don’t think it needs to be one. My opinion changes completely at 12,000 HUF or €30 for foreign-issued Mastercard World Elite and Black cards. I find that price excessive for what the lounge offers, particularly given its limited size.

My verdict: Great value with a Hungarian Mastercard Gold, but overpriced for foreign-issued premium cardholders. For 4,000 HUF, I’d happily choose this lounge over eating in the terminal.
