Don’t miss the Qili Shan Tang Scenic Area, a beautiful 7-kilometer canal stretch that connects Suzhou’s old town to the western hills. Take the metro to Suzhou Museum area. Visit the UNESCO Humble Administrator’s Garden (2 hours). This is the most famous garden in Suzhou. Warning: It gets packed on weekends – I couldn’t fully enjoy it due to crowds.

11:00 AM – Lunch at Pingjiang Road
Historic street with white-walled houses, teahouses, and craft shops. I ordered sweet noodles and Taihu fish at a riverside restaurant.

12:00 PM – Public Transport to Tongli
50-minute ride to the end station, around 5 CNY. Arrive in Tongli by 1:00 PM.

1:30 PM – Afternoon in Tongli
Buy 100 CNY ticket. Visit Tuisi Garden, take a sampan boat ride, cross Three Bridges. Explore alleys.

4:30 PM – Return to Suzhou

5:30–6:30 PM — Qili Shan Tang Scenic Area
Stop at Shantang Jie on the way back from Tongli and walk along Qili Shan Tang, a beautiful canal stretch with stone bridges, willow trees, and old boat houses. It’s especially pretty in the late afternoon, but weekends at sunset can get crowded.
